The Mac Startup Chime and the Origin of Sosumi

This is a fantastic interview with Jim Reekes, a programmer at Apple responsible for work on Quicktime, System 7, and some of the sounds of the Macintosh OS.  Especially hilarious is the origin of the name for the “sosumi” alert sound that can still be found on your Mac today.  The first 30 seconds or so are in Dutch, but skip to the beginning of the interview and you won’t be disappointed.  Reekes also did an interview for the documentary Welcome to Macintosh (which is available to “Watch Instantly” for all you Netflix-ers out there) that is also well worth a watch for any Apple fan out there.
