Speck PixelSkin HD

I finally received my Speck PixelSkin HD, and my first impressions of it are pretty good. The case doesn’t add too much bulk to the phone, but still provides ample protection. It is made of a slightly flexible plastic with a matte finish on the sides. As far as button coverage, the sleep/wake and volume buttons are completely covered while the ringer switch is exposed (to be expected). The opening for the headphone jack seems to be on the small side, but the dock connector seems open enough to support most chargers.

Netflix for iPhone: 3G Data Gobbler?

I was exceedingly happy to find out that Netflix for iPhone was released today, allowing instant streaming of Netflix’s awesome library of TV shows and movies. The app works very well over 3G, providing great quality with very few stops for buffering. Purely in the interest of science, I turned off Wi-Fi to see how much data was required to stream a 43-minute episode of LOST. Turns out, it uses almost 200MB. Better hang on to that unlimited data plan :)

WORDS

This amazing video is the result of a collaboration between Everynone, RadioLab, and NPR.  It all starts with the word “play” and examines it’s various meanings, then moves on to other words and how they are connected.  Believe me, it makes sense after you watch it.
